How to update Nokia mobile phone Software

Nokia phones are used by lot of people around the world and requires no introduction. Ideally, users go to Nokia Customer Care center to update software of their Nokia phone. You can update Nokia phone software at the comfort of your home performing few simple steps as explained below. [perform them at your own risk, use discretion]

Check current version & find update

Before the phone software update, we need check on the current version of software installed on the mobile phone.

1. Dial *#0000# from your phone. This will show you current version of software running on your phone.

2. To find the software update for you phone you need to know the the device product code. You can see this code on the phone under the battery eq 055****

3. Open Nokia update and enter the above code in box at the bottom of the webpage. You will find the latest software of your phone and download the latest version for your Nokia phone.

Backup data & then update software

Before you update the Nokia software, you should backup your data on the PC. This can be done using Nokia PC suite Backup option. You can choose the data you want to backup.

Once you backup the data, double click on the Nokia software updater that you have downloaded from the Nokia site. Now you phone software will start updating. [More Details here]

1. The phone should be charged to full.
2. Do not disconnect the phone when the software is being installed.

It has integrated text to speech conversion feature that makes text audible without any ned to install additional software. To get started, make sure PC has latest version Adobe reader installed.

Hear PDF files loud in Adobe Reader

1. Open PDF file in Adobe Reader.

2. Goto View > Read out loud > Click on Activate Read Out Loud. Alternatively use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Y.

3. Now goto View > Read out loud > Click on Read this page only or either use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V.

4. For reading to the end of the document goto View > Read out loud > Click on Read to end of Document or either use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+B.

You can also use Notepad to listen text without installing any additional software. Alternatively, there are number of online text to speech tools for quick listening of text on the internet.

How to turn off Google Buzz in Gmail

Turn OFF Google Buzz in Gmail inbox

1. Goto Gmail.com & login into your account.
2. If you see “Buzz” link on left sidebar, implies Google Buzz is ON.
3. Scroll down to bottom of the Gmail inbox & click ‘Turn OFF Buzz’ link.

Are you tired of searching for subtitles for a particular movie over the internet? Here is a simple way to download movie subtitles in few clicks within player. Also, you don’t have to worry about the data transfer that occurs during browsing for subtitles because this technique will nullify all the bandwidth usage. You will need K-Lite Codec Pack [Freeware tool] and an active internet connection.

Download & display movie subtitles

1. Download K-Lite Codec Pack and install the Codec pack.
2. Open movie in the media player provided by the package.

3. Now go to File > Subtitle Database & then click on “Download”.
4. Subtitles will be searched into a pallet opened inside the player for various languages.

5. Select desired subtitle & click ‘Download & Open’ button.

The movie will start with subtitles embedded at the bottom of the player. Now you can enjoy any movie with subtitles in Windows media player classic.

How to Lock Windows PC [keyboard & shorcut icon]

There are times while at office or home that you need to move away from computer. However, you cannot shut down computer during that time. If you log off from PC, all applications running in the background are closed, you may not want to close current applications. Best way to deal with such situation is to lock the PC and this is very easy, requiring NO addition hardware or software.

Lock Windows PC using Keyboard

Windows XP, Vista, 7 operating system includes Microsoft Natural Keyboard shortcut to lock your computer. Just press (Window key + L) keys to lock the PC. To re-again access to locked PC, press the Enter key and enter your login password (if already set). Once PC is back, you can resume work in previous state of work and applications.

Shortcut Icon to lock PC

Besides the keyboard shortcut method, you can create a shortcut icon and use it to lock PC instantly.

1. Right click on desktop & click on New > Shortcut.
2. Write rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation in the location field.

3. Then click Next > Finish. Now Double click on the shortcut that is created on the desktop to lock your PC.

Use Command Prompt to lock PC

You can even lock PC using Command prompt. Just run the following command to lock Windows computer anytime.

1. Click on Start > Run. Type cmd and click OK button.
2. Write rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation & click Enter.

Once your Computer is locked, no one can use the PC when you are away and PC is ON (but locked).
